The Kittitas Public Schools Foundation (KPSF) was created in 1982 as a non-profit corporation by local citizens who wanted to provide an opportunity to invest directly in local education by providing an additional funding source that was locally controlled. A board of directors, comprised of local citizens, governs the Foundation.
The Board of Directors for the Kittitas Public Schools Foundation includes: Steve Alder, Nita Brist, Jack Clerf, Doris Clerf, Bea Fairburn, Doug Gibb, Wendy Gibb, Mark Hansen, Steve Hart, Del Heistand, Gail Johnson, Bill Lowe, Superintendent, Joyce Palelek, Stephanie Rosbach, Cheryl Salta, and Duane Skeen.
The Foundation is a non-profit corporation organized under the laws of the State of Washington. The KPSF is registered as a charitable non-profit with Washington State Secretary of State and has 501(c)(3)tax exempt status granted and recognized by IRS. Given this status, contributions to the KPSF may be deductible for income tax purposes.
Beginning in the early 90’s, the KPSF implemented the mini-grant program when KSD teachers and staff annually submitted proposals to KPSF Board of Directors for consideration. As dictated by available funds and, of course, the number and cost of proposals, the KPSF has since awarded well over $60,000 to worthy projects within the Kittitas School District. Funding is derived from interest income from KPSF Endowment and contributions from individuals, groups, businesses, and companies. Contributions can be made on an unrestricted basis or can be earmarked for a specific use. In certain instances, donations of materials or equipment can also be made.
An ongoing fundraising effort of the Foundation is the tiled donor wall located near the entrance of the Secondary School’s gymnasium. Many engraved tiles adorn the wall, recognizing past graduates and honoring the memory of friends and family. The Foundation is offering the remaining tiles to the community so they may engrave them with a special message, recognize a grad or alum, or to honor the memory of friends or family. Each engraved tile costs $75 and order forms for the tiles are available at the Secondary School office or may be downloaded from this site.
The Foundation is also proud to announce that we have partnered with Amazon to be included in the AmazonSmile program. AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way to support the Kittitas Public Schools Foundation every time you shop on Amazon, at no cost to you. To participate, simply go to smile.amazon.com and select Kittitas Public Schools Foundation as your charity. They will remember your selection and on each eligible purchase, the Foundation will receive a donation, again at no cost to you. AmazonSmile offers the same selection, prices, and convenient shopping as Amazon.com.
We believe the Foundation offers the community an excellent opportunity to invest directly in the local educational process by lending financial support to the areas that the community deems important. It is the desire of the Foundation to expand and enhance the educational experience for local students by making money available for programs and equipment that couldn’t normally be funded.
