Technology Network Specialist

Job Title:                       Technology Network Specialist

Direct Supervisor:           Superintendent 

The Technology Network Specialist will be responsible for the technology systems of Kittitas School District, ensuring that technology systems are operational, dependable, reliable and fully support the needs of the district.  Position is 260 days/year, Monday through Friday 7:30am – 4:30pm.  Starting salary is $50,000/year, with full benefits.

Essential Job Function

  1. Provides hardware installation and minor repairs.
  2. Provides software installation and troubleshooting.
  3. Maintains software licenses.
  4. Researches and stays current with technology trends to best meet current and future needs. 
  5. Updates technology web pages as needed.
  6. Maintains technology equipment and systems (e.g. servers, systems, software applications, network) and ensure that systems are functioning properly and effectively.
  7. Provides support and assistance to staff and contracted partners in the operation of technology.
  8. Provides security monitoring and support for video cameras.
  9. Maintains inventory records and establish replacement system of all technology.
  10. Provides technology support to staff as requested for training and meetings.
  11. Provides leadership in the purchasing of needed technology in collaboration with leadership.
  12. Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion    of scheduled jobs.
  13. Performs regular security monitoring.
  14. Performs daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created.
  15. Performs regular file archival and purge as necessary.
  16. Maintains Active Directory and Group Policy in a Windows Enterprise environment, including cleaning, testing, monitoring, and account setup.
  17. Performs ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
  18. Tests technology applications, tools and programs and provide recommendations to departments and buildings.
  19. Supports the implementation of operational and educational technology initiatives (e.g. new systems, software, hardware), assisting with delivery and implementation, providing support, training and information to ensure successful implementation.
  20. Maintains a working relationship with staff.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Associates Degree in Information Technology or completion of a related Information Technology program from a certified vocational school.
  2. Minimum of three years’ experience in the field of computers and/or network management. 

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Appropriate undergraduate degree or certificate.
  2. Three years’ work experience providing tech support in an educational environment.
  3. Experience with Microsoft Windows Enterprise environments.
  4. Experience with Cisco equipment.
  5. Experience with enterprise networking (switches, routers, cabling, Wi-Fi).
  6. Experience with web-based development tools.
  7. Experience with Google apps. 

Required Skills, Knowledge and or Abilities

  1. A broad knowledge of computing, networks, operating systems, internet/intranet technologies, and trends in emerging technologies.
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Ability to work with a team.
  4. Must be willing to travel and have a valid Washington driver’s license.
  5. Must be willing to work varying work hours as necessary in order to minimize computer/network downtime.

POSITIONS:             Part Time Bus Drivers needed- we will train                                    



1.      Possess, or be eligible for, or be able to obtain appropriate license requirements.

2.      Ability to work with children and adults in a positive, constructive manner.

3.      High school diploma or equivalent.

4.      Previous experience driving school bus highly desirable but not required.
