SCHOOL BOND UPDATE
In February 2020 the Kittitas Community overwhelmingly passed a $13.2 million dollar School Bond. The School District hired Rock Project Management Services, L.L.C. (RPM) as owners representatives to perform PM/CM Services.
RPM’s job is to utilize their industry experience to help the School District complete all the projects on time and on budget. In April, 2020 the School District secured a contract with Integrus Architecture (IA) to work on the design of the 2020 Bond Program Projects. The bond money, along with Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OPSI) funding, is to be used to complete the following projects:
-Replace Primary Building with an addition to the Intermediate Building
-Construct a New Maintenance / Transportation facility
-Demolish the Old Kittitas High School & Primary Building
-Re-roof Jim Johnson Memorial Gymnasium
-Install Security & HVAC upgrades to the Secondary School
-Remodel the District Office
The Jim Johnson re-roof was completed in October 2020. The Old High School has been successfully abated and prep-work is being completed prior to the demolition of the building. The demolition is tentatively set to start January 2021. The new addition is moving through the design process and RPM, KSD, and Integrus are looking to submit the designs for permitting in January 2021 with construction anticipated to start in June of 2021.
