Library Policy

Welcome to the Library

All school rules apply.

Book Checkout

  • Students may check out up to 3 library books at a time, in addition to any textbooks.

  • All books are due at the end of the month.

  • Fines will be assigned for lost or damaged books.

Overdue Books

  • We do not charge a fine for overdue books.  Overdue notices are sent out on a routine basis, usually every 5-8 weeks.

  • Students who have chronic overdue books may have borrowing privileges revoked or limited.  If a book is lost or damaged, a fine will be issued. The fine must be paid or book returned before additional library books can be checked out.

  • All items not returned by the end of each trimester will be marked as lost, and a fine for the replacement cost of the book will be issued.  Fine will be deleted if item is returned or amount of fine is paid in the office.

Textbook Policy

Students will fill out a Textbook Contract for all classroom textbooks.  Please make sure contract is filled out completely as fines will be issued for damage beyond normal wear.  Damage not recorded could result in a fine.

Students are required to return the same textbook that was checked out to them for each class. The barcode number must match the one on the students’ Textbook Contract to clear their account.  Books are to be used only by the student to whom the books are issued to.

If a book is damaged when you check it out, let the staff know immediately. We will repair it or issue you a new book.

DO NOT leave a textbook in a classroom.

Damaged or Lost Books

  • Students are responsible for damaged or lost books. Do not put water or juice bottles in your backpack with books as this can damage books. If a book becomes accidentally damaged or lost, the student is responsible for reporting it.

  • If a book page accidentally rips, it should not be repaired at home. The librarian will repair the book.

  • If a book becomes damaged beyond use, the student will be billed for the replacement cost.

Charges to Student Accounts

  • Lost books will be charged a fine equal to the replacement cost of the book. We will not accept books purchased by patrons in lieu of lost books.

  • Payment for a lost book is reimbursed should the book be found and returned in good condition.
