Dear Kittitas School District Families, Staff, Students, and Community Members,

It’s with great excitement and genuine gratitude that I introduce myself as the new Superintendent of the Kittitas School District. I’m honored to join a community that values its schools, supports its students, and understands the important role public education plays in the life of a rural community.

For the past 27 years, I’ve had the privilege of serving students as a teacher, principal, and superintendent in Washinton and Montana. Most recently, I served as the Superintendent of the Republic School District, where I had the opportunity to work alongside outstanding educators, families, and community members to strengthen educational opportunities, while preserving the unique character and values that define rural schools. Throughout my career, I have developed a deep appreciation for rural education. Rural schools are more than places of learning; they are the heart of their communities. They bring people together, create lifelong connections, and provide opportunities that shape future generations.

Accepting the opportunity to serve Kittitas was an easy decision. I’ve long admired this district and have followed its success for many years, dating back to my time as an administrator in Moses Lake. I’ve always respected Kittitas’ reputation for academic, athletic, and extracurricular excellence, dedicated staff, strong community support, and commitment to students. Having family in the area makes this opportunity even more meaningful, and I’m excited to become part of this wonderful community. Outside of school, you’ll often find me attending Washington and Montana High School Rodeo events, enjoying grandchildren, or on the water. I look forward to seeing many of you at school events, around town, and at community or school board celebrations.

As I begin my work in Kittitas, my number one priority is to listen, learn, and build relationships. During my early days in the district, I will spend time visiting classrooms, meeting with students and staff, listening to families, and connecting with community members. I want to understand what makes Kittitas special, celebrate the many strengths already present, and work together to identify opportunities for the future. Our schools belong to the entire community. Open communication, trust, and collaboration are essential to ensuring every student receives an exceptional education. Whether you are a parent, grandparent, employee, volunteer, business owner, alumnus, or community partner, your voice matters, and I hope you’ll take the opportunity to share your thoughts and aspirations for our schools.

As your superintendent, I’m committed to leading with integrity, transparency, and respect. Every decision we make should be guided by what’s best for students, while honoring the values of our community and responsibly stewarding the resources entrusted to our district.

I’m also pleased to share that Dr. Sue Ann Bube will be serving as our Director of Special Education. Dr. Bube brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to supporting students and partnering with families. Over the coming school year, she will be introducing herself to our special education families, staff, and community members as she begins building relationships and learning more about the outstanding work already taking place in Kittitas.

Thank you for the warm welcome many of you have already extended to me and I look forward to meeting each of you in the weeks and months ahead. Great things are in store for our district! Go Yotes!
